      Hey Lea,

I’m using plants because there’s an almost limitless supply of them, meaning that if my research was successful and it was decided that the materials could be used in hospitals, the material would be pretty cheap meaning that more patients could benefit from it. It also wouldn’t be affected if oil supplies ran out, which wouldn’t be true for most plastics.

Plants are also good because when the materials break down in the body, which we want them to do, they will produce sugars which will help the cells grow. Other materials that are currently used inside the body break down into acids, which could cause inflammation and create problems.

      Hope that answers your question!
